Patrick Murphy, PE

President and Principal Engineer

Patrick Murphy is President and Principal Engineer at Critical Power Consulting, P.C.  He founded CPC to focus on utility power for users that consider electricity to be a critical aspect – financially and/or operationally – of the success of their business.  He believes that helping businesses work with utilities to establish a partnership is the key to success, for any type of business large or small.

Pat is a licensed professional engineer with over 22 years of experience in the utility industry, with a focus on mission critical facilities during 16 of those years. Pat has been involved in all aspects of power generation, transmission, and distribution projects.

Prior to founding Critical Power Consulting, Pat was a Principal Engineer as LIG Consultants.  Before LIG, Pat served a dual role at Digital Realty.  He was the Director of Utility Power in North America where he oversaw all of the electric utility infrastructure design and construction and negotiated construction and electrical service agreements throughout the country.  In this role he established the company standard for medium voltage infrastructure designs.  The second role was Director of Design in the East Region where he managed and oversaw the design for all new data centers for the east region. Prior to Digital Realty, Pat served as the Director of Operations at SourceOne, and had various roles at NSTAR Electric & Gas, National Grid, and ABB.

Pat is a graduate of Clarkson University BSEE, and is licensed in AL, AR, AZ, CA, GA, IL, MA, MD, MI, MS, NC, NJ, NV, NY, OH, OR, TX, VA and WA. He is an Accredited Tier Designer of the Uptime Institute (ATD), a Certified Energy Manager (CEM), and a Certified Building Commissioning Professional (CBCP). He is a member of the National Society of Professional Engineers, the Association of Energy Engineers, IEEE, The Engineering Advisory Council at Clarkson University, and the Massachusetts Society of Professional Engineers.


Jack Griffin

Vice President – Generation

Jack Griffin is the Vice President of Generation at Critical Power Consulting. He helps mission-critical and large-load customers develop and execute practical generation strategies that reduce cost, improve reliability, and accelerate schedules. CPC advises clients on the “utility side” of power—service strategy, rate/tariff and demand-cost drivers, power master planning, and coordination with utilities and project stakeholders to keep critical projects on track. Jack brings senior leadership experience spanning municipal and utility environments and energy services delivery, with deep expertise in distributed generation and the operational and commercial levers that determine performance and total cost.

Prior to joining Critical Power Consulting, Jack held several executive roles within Veolia and its SourceOne organization, most recently as Senior Vice President of their Sustainable Industries and Buildings division. Prior to his tenure at SourceOne/Veolia, Jack held managerial roles at Eversource Energy and National Grid.

Jack holds an MBA from the University of Massachusetts in Boston, and a BSME in Marine Engineering and Transportation from the United States Merchant Marine Academy.


Michael Wallace

Vice President, Operations

Michael is the Vice President of Operations at Critical Power Consulting. He has over 30 years combined experience in the energy industry with corporations including Imcorp, Duke/Progress Energy and Entergy New Orleans.  

As a collaborative, strategic energy industry executive, Michael leads with deep experience in optimizing organizations and driving revenue through streamlined processes, strong cross-functional partnerships and high performing teams. Michael has helped energy companies expand their infrastructure equipment while maximizing employee satisfaction and elevating company morale.

With a 20-year history at Duke Energy, Michael served in various managerial and engineering roles from Area Operations and Engineering Manager to Senior Component Engineer. He managed various large-scale capacity, power quality projects and maintained/optimized the revenue generating energy grid system.

With IMCORP, Michael utilized his strategic vision, direction and execution to manage a leadership team of 64 geographically distributed staff members.

Michael has a Master of Business Administration from Francis Marion University and a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from Louisiana Tech University.


Bill Deighan

Senior Project Manager

Bill Deighan is a Senior Project Manager at Critical Power Consulting, P.C. 

Bill has over seventeen years of electrical utility and renewable energy construction experience ranging from project management to operations, and maintenance.  His attention to detail has consistently delivered safe and reliable power solutions, earning the trust and satisfaction of numerous utility and critical infrastructure clients. 

Prior to joining the Critical Power Consulting team, Bill spent 11 years with Consolidated Edison of New York in various positions before shifting into the contracting sector.  Following his tenure working directly for a major utility, Bill traveled the country supporting or leading renewable energy and traditional transmission and distribution projects with companies such as Burns & McDonnell, Blattner Energy, and Pike Electric.  His experience includes large T&D projects (overhead and underground), substations, storm hardening, microgrids, smart grids, and energy management.  Bill is a Veteran of the United States Air Force.  He holds a B.A. in Economics from Fordham University as well as a M.S. in Construction Administration from Columbia University. Bill currently resides in Waxhaw, NC. 


Tony Grentz

Senior Project Engineer

Tony joins Critical Power Consulting (CPC) as a Senior Project Engineer with over fifteen years of utility and data center experience. Throughout his career, his focus has been in project management, data centers, power quality and instrumentation & controls. He excels in building cross functional teams, critical thinking, finding solutions, delivering results, and believes that nothing is impossible.

Prior to coming to CPC, Tony served in key roles, including Construction Project Manager, at Portland General Electric, Arizona Public Service, Schneider Electric, and the Air Force Research Laboratory. His experience in all phases of electric utilities – from contract negotiation to design and build as well as operation and maintenance – has given him expertise in the nuances of customer funded projects and the ability to understand the importance of integrated solutions for everything from renewables to data centers and commercial and industrial applications.

Tony is a graduate of University of Texas San Antonio, with a B.S.E.E. (Bachelor of Science, electrical engineering). He is also a certified Project Manager. Tony lives in the pacific northwest.


Christopher Johnson

Senior Project Engineer

Chris joins Critical Power Consulting (CPC) as a Senior Project Engineer with over fifteen years of utility, military and consulting experience. Throughout his career, his focus has been in project and financial management, contract administration, power distribution, system planning, transmission and substation land rights and auditing.

Prior to coming to CPC, Chris was a Sr. Project Manager for Leidos Engineering. Chris managed a portfolio of power delivery projects supporting Southern Company Substation, Distribution, System Planning, Safety Observations and Project Management as a service. Prior to Leidos, Chris worked at Alabama Power as a Sarbanes Oxley Leadership Engineer where he provided performance audits in the operations, construction and engineering of distribution systems. Prior to that, Chris worked at Alabama Power as a Sr. Real Estate Specialist, where he performed various legal services for the acquisition of easements and land purchases for transmission and substations, a Strategic Planning Engineer (Transmission) and various distribution engineering roles.

Chris is currently a Major with over 23 years of military service. Chris has served in the United States Marine Corps (Active Duty), the Alabama Army National Guard and the United States Army Reserves. He has worked as an Electronic Maintenance Technician, a Logistics Specialist, a Financial Manager, an MEP Engineer and an Internal Auditor.

Chris is a graduate of the University of Alabama at Birmingham with a Bachelor of Science in Electrical and Computer Engineering. He also earned a Juris Doctorate from Birmingham School of Law. He is a licensed attorney in the State of Alabama and a Certified Defense Financial Manager. Chris lives in the southeast.


Ross Stienecker, PE

Senior Project Engineer

Ross Stienecker is a seasoned professional engineer at Critical Power Consulting, P.C. (CPC), where he brings over 14 years of engineering and project management experience in the power and energy delivery sector.  As a Senior Project Engineer, Ross specializes in helping clients with their electric transmission, distribution, and generation needs by providing innovative solutions to meet their complex needs.

Before joining CPC, Ross held a key Staff Engineer position at American Electric Power (AEP), where he honed his skills in by working on large power delivery projects ranging from 4-765kV with a specialization in substation system protection and control engineering design.  Ross worked with many large load customers during his time at AEP and was influential on creating a positive customer experience and ensuring high electric service reliability.  He served as a key technical leader that helped refine AEP’s engineering processes, standards, and strategy.  Ross often gave technical presentations representing AEP at industry conferences and was very passionate about the training/development of peer engineers.  He holds a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from Ohio Northern University and is a licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in Ohio.

Outside of work, Ross is passionate about basketball and golf.  He also enjoys doing landscaping projects when time permits.  Ross lives in the Columbus, OH area.


Nisreen Abbas

Project Engineer

Nisreen Abbas is a Project Engineer at Critical Power Consulting, P.C. She will support Senior Engineers on power infrastructure projects through technical, regulatory, and financial analysis.

Nisreen joins us with six years of experience in electrical utility design and power distribution. She has extensive expertise as a Design Engineer supporting low- and medium-voltage overhead distribution design for ComEd projects.

Prior to her current role, Nisreen worked at KGDR Consultants as a subcontractor for Burns & McDonnell and previously held a position at HBK Engineering.

Nisreen holds a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering with a Minor in Mathematics from Texas Tech University.


Richard Coronado

Project Engineer

Richard Coronado is a Project Engineer at Critical Power Consulting, P.C.

Richard comes to CPC with over 8 years of leadership, application engineering, and project management experience in medium voltage switchgear and low voltage control systems manufacturing. In addition to his experience gathered in the electrical manufacturing industry, Richard is a Navy Veteran. Together, this background helps him excel at problem solving, understanding complex systems, organizational structures, and fostering teamwork amongst diverse parties.

Before joining Critical Power Consulting, Richard led the Automation and Underground Distribution Technical Sales Support team at S&C Electric Company. This team comprised of application engineers that assisted the sales team with complex projects requiring automated medium voltage switchgear by conducting specification evaluation, pre-engineering, bidding, and conducting all matters of internal coordination to ensure successful delivery of equipment. Prior to S&C, Richard was an application engineer and project manager at Crown Technical Systems where he bid on and managed the production of substation control houses, arc-resistant medium voltage switchgear, relay control panels and custom medium and low voltage cabinets. At both S&C Electric and Crown Technical, he provided support for a variety of customers including various utility, data center, commercial, industrial and educational end-users along with several EPCs across the country.

Prior to his experience in electrical manufacturing, Richard was a U.S. Navy SONAR Technician Work Center Supervisor onboard USS Benfold, DDG 65, in San Diego, CA and Yokosuka, Japan. In this role he coordinated with other departments to ensure operational readiness of the ship and was a key player in making high pressure tactical decisions upon encountering underwater contacts.

Richard earned his B.S. in General Engineering from Harvey Mudd College prior to entering the Navy. After the Navy he obtained an M.A. in Leadership and Organizational Studies from Azusa Pacific University and an MBA from Judson University. Richard now resides in the suburbs of Chicago.


John Dillon

Project Engineer

John Dillon is a Project Engineer at Critical Power Consulting with over 12 years of experience in the electric utility industry with a focus in Protection and Control.

Prior to joining CPC, John held multiple positions at American Electric Power in both engineering and in the field. As a Designer he created P&C drawings for substations ranging from small 12kV distribution to large 765kV transmission stations in both greenfield and brownfield applications.  As a Technologist, he developed protection schemes for multiple large transmission stations and led the technical execution of those projects. When in the field, John oversaw testing and commissioning of P&C equipment as well as providing guidance on construction schedules and ensuring schedule adherence. While fulfilling these roles, he also acted as a subject matter expert for many different process initiatives as well as a mentor to peers.

John received his B.S. in Electrical Engineering Technology and resides in central Ohio.


Corey Hunt

Project Engineer

Corey Hunt is a Project Engineer at Critical Power Consulting, P.C. 

Corey comes to CPC with over four years of commercial and utility electrical experience. Focusing on the design of substations and commercial office buildings. Engineering experience in design, managing, and standards development of various project types. Corey has experience in the construction of commercial buildings as well as greenfield, brownfield, and renewable energy powered substations. Corey brings a variety of skills such as hard-working, fast-thinking, critical-thinker, and leadership.

Prior to coming to Critical Power Consulting, Corey was a Substation P&C Engineer at United Utility Power Services, LLC. He managed a variety of projects that were all in the renewable energy sector. Corey collaborated with fellow coworkers to produce full protection and controls packages for 345kV:34.5kV substations and 138kV switchyards. During his time there he also helped and managed design standards and client standards documentation. Prior to UU, Corey worked for legacy Digioia Gray as a Substation P&C Engineer completing a variety of projects from design to construction. From telecom upgrades to full greenfield substations. Prior to that, Corey was an Electrical Engineer for Barrett Woodyard & Associates where he collaborated with other engineers, architects, and building clients to aid in the design of electrical systems in Commercial office buildings located in Charlotte, NC.

Corey is a graduate of The University of North Carolina at Charlotte with a B.S in Electrical Engineering Technology with a concentration in Applied Energy. Corey is also an Engineer-in-Training (EIT). Corey lives in the Charlotte, NC area.


Antoine Mordican Sr.

Project Engineer

Antoine Mordican Sr. is a dedicated Project Engineer with Critical Power Consulting (CPC), bringing a wealth of experience and expertise to his role. His journey began on the west side of Chicago, from where he relocated to the south in pursuit of enhanced educational opportunities. He graduated from Alabama A&M University with a degree in Electrical Engineering and continued his academic pursuits at Columbia Southern University, where he earned an MBA in project management.

In his professional career, Antoine has held significant roles, including his current position as a Project Engineer with CPC. Prior to this, he worked as a Senior Distribution Engineer at Leidos, where he designed distribution lower voltage power lines, conducted high-level reviews to evaluate technical feasibility, performed initial load studies, and led engineering analysis for distributed generation interconnection studies. He also worked at Alabama Power Company as a Distribution Engineer, handling the installation and maintenance of lower voltage power lines. Additionally, Antoine contributed as a CAST Test Program Instructor at Lawson State Community College and Shelton State Community College, assisting individuals in passing the Construction and Skilled Trade exam.

Antoine’s dedication to his profession is matched by his commitment to community and family. He enjoys quality moments with his wife and five children, underlining his multifaceted life as a professional, advocate, and family man.

Christopher McCready, PE

Project Engineer

Chris McCready is a Project Engineer at Critical Power Consulting, P.C. (CPC), bringing over nine years of engineering experience in the utility industry. Specializing in protection and control, Chris provides expert guidance to help clients address their power needs and challenges.

Before joining CPC, Chris served as a Staff Engineer at American Electric Power (AEP), where he led protection and control projects ranging from 12kV to 765kV, overseeing the process from scoping and design to energization. During his time at AEP, Chris worked closely with other transmission owners and customers, ensuring the efficient and successful execution of projects. As part of AEP’s technical leadership team, he played a key role in solving complex protection and control issues, as well as providing valuable training and mentorship to peers. Additionally, Chris was responsible for AEP’s compliance efforts, contributing to the development of the company’s facility rating process and automating the calculation of transmission FAC-008 ratings.

Chris holds a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from The Ohio State University and is a licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in Ohio.

Outside of work, Chris enjoys spending time with his wife and son, as well as boating and wakeboarding. He currently resides in the Columbus, OH area.


Kevin Saygi, PE

Project Engineer

Kevin Saygi is a Project Engineer with Critical Power Consulting.

Prior to joining Critical Power Consulting, Kevin served as a Transmission Staff Engineer and Project Manager at Garland Power & Light for seven years. In this role, he spearheaded the successful execution of numerous substation and transmission projects, consistently delivering solutions that optimized grid performance and reliability. He possesses a deep understanding of all project phases, from initial planning and design through construction, commissioning, and closeout.

A strong advocate for continuous improvement, Kevin developed and implemented over 24 transmission and substation design standards for Garland Power & Light to enhance project quality and consistency. He is also deeply involved in the development of new technologies, including contributing to a task force focused on creating software for NERC FAC-008 Dynamic Ratings.

Prior to joining CPC, Kevin managed a large-scale substation upgrade that included installing a new 600MVA autotransformer and converting a ring bus to a breaker and a half configuration, all while maintaining at least half of the station energized. This project presented significant challenges, including navigating the impacts of COVID-19 and Winter Storm Uri, but Kevin’s leadership and problem-solving skills were instrumental in ensuring its successful completion.

Kevin is a registered Professional Engineer (PE) in the state of Texas and holds a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from Texas A&M University. He is passionate about leveraging his expertise to develop innovative and efficient solutions to the challenges facing the electric power industry.  


Clara Torres

Project Engineer

Clara Torres is a Project Engineer at Critical Power Consulting with nearly sixteen years of experience in power utility construction and electrical engineering. Throughout her career, her focus has been on substation, transmission, and distribution project management, where she excels at navigating the complexities of engineering design and construction execution. Clara is a results-driven leader known for her ability to manage full project lifecycles—including scope, budgeting, and risk management—while ensuring on-time delivery and operational excellence.

Prior to joining the CPC team, Clara served in key roles for FirstEnergy and PSE&G. Her experience spans the full spectrum of electric utilities, from leading substation and transmission capital projects for FirstEnergy, to managing outage planning and scheduling for PSE&G’s 500kV–4kV electric system. Her background in both staff engineering and project leadership has given her deep expertise in the nuances of design accuracy, material procurement, and the critical importance of maintaining system reliability and safety.

Clara is a graduate of the New Jersey Institute of Technology, holding both a B.S. in Electrical Engineering Technology and an M.S. in Engineering Management. She is also Lean Six Sigma trained and holds an OSHA 10-Hour Construction Safety Certification. Clara currently resides in the Northeast region.


Kirsten Heineman

Project Administrator

Kirsten Heineman is a Project Administrator at Critical Power Consulting, P.C.

Prior to joining CPC, Kirsten spent twelve years in law enforcement working collaboratively with several departmental and community groups to create and enhance community-oriented programs. Kirsten assumed the responsibility of serving as internal technical support and represented the department on various social media outlets. 

Kirsten is a graduate of Hope College, located in Holland, Michigan and currently resides in Virginia.
